Membership
To become a part of the Hull Family Home & Farmstead, we encourage you to consider membership in our organization. We offer membership at various levels which are indicated on our Membership Application.
Volunteering
We welcome you to become involved in the fantastic opportunity of the
restoration of a Western New York historical site. Volunteers are crucial to the
success of many events and programs here at the Hull Family Home & Farmstead.
Opportunities range from archeology, genealogy, gardening, restoration work, and
fund raising to name just a few. With your help as one of our volunteers, we
look forward to making the past a part of our future.
Volunteers are encouraged to offer ideas for events, fundraising and future
planning. We value our volunteers and their enthusiasm!

Docenting
Docenting is an exciting experience at the Hull Family Home & Farmstead where
we have the opportunity to share the experience of life on the Western New York
frontier in the early 1800’s. Our visitors come from all walks of life and all
ages. It is rewarding to convey the story of Warren and Polly Hull, their
family, their every day lives and their settling of the land.
Everyday life was not easy on the frontier even for a family of relative means.
Daily activities are explained and thought provoking questions are raised to
help promote a heightened experience for all our guests—especially for children
who have never experienced life without electricity or plumbing.
The docent led tours include an explanation of the architecture of that period
as displayed in this uniquely substantial stone residence which still stands on
Warren Hull’s original land. The significance of the house’s location and its
role in the area’s history are also highlighted.
Each of our visitors has a different interest in the Hull Family Home &
Farmstead. It is our goal to make their experience one which will continue to
excite and increase their understanding of life in the early 1800’s and to
entice them to return again to relight the past.
After extensive training, new docents will shadow veterans on house tours until
they feel comfortable going on their own. Docents are encouraged to wear period
correct dress and abide by strict protocols. Anyone interested in becoming
